Vivienne Purcell

Vivienne is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, and Accredited Interpersonal Therapist. She has worked for many years in the profession, both in the NHS with young people and families, adults and older adults, and the University sector providing therapy and training for staff and students. Most recently she was working as a Clinical Supervisor of CBT therapists for the NHS in London. Vivienne is now based in Hampshire in private practice.

Vivienne is an Associate Fellow of The British Psychological Society. They have a Professional Code of Conduct which can be viewed on their website , and provide regular opportunities for psychologists to update their skills.

As a Registered Psychologist with the Health Professions Council , psychologists are required to regularly demonstrate that they have continued their professional development in order to renew their registration.

While continuing to work with a variety of presenting problems she has recently contributed a book ‘Understanding Visible Differences’ to the Palgrave ‘Texts in Counselling and Psychotherapy’ series (see below for a preview). Her current special interest is in social anxiety, body dysmorphia, disability and visible difference.
